Moments of memories: Beat-Club No.75 geht auf Sendung

Billy Preston – Poco – Epitaph Mountain – Curtis Mayfield – Canned Heat – Heads, Hands & Feet

Moderation:
Uschi Nerke

Moments of memories: Beat-Club No.75 goes on air

Today we turn back the time machine. On 29.01.1972 the Beat-Club No.75 was broadcasted. At that time you could see and hear in this program:

The Beat Club. A legendary program that revolutionized German music television and became a cult. No wonder: Here the bands and artists could perform live – and not playback like for example on „Top Of The Pops“ – here they found an environment in which they could live out their creativity.

Now the time has finally come: The Beat-Club goes „live“ again under the title ‚Beat-Club – The Story‘. The concept is based on a series of events that took place as part of Udo Lindenberg’s „Rockliner“ cruise event. Since its premiere in 2010, the format has regularly ensured full houses during trips on the high seas. Jörg Sonntag is not entirely innocent of this. The editor of Radio Bremen was there himself and, at the tender age of 15, was carrying the cables through the studio when the „first show designed just for young people“ shook up Saturday afternoon. He is regarded as a proven expert in the field of „rock documentation“: 143 episodes of the history series „Vinyl“ and several TV shows with guests ranging from the Scorpions to Udo Lindenberg are his credit. Sonntag, who worked for many years as assistant to Beat Club director Mike Leckebusch, presents and moderates „Beat Club – The Story“.
His stories bring the times of bell-bottoms, psychedelic and beat into the present. And that’s not all: peppered with high-ranking guests, rare film sequences, artwork and multimedia additions, „Beat Club – The Story“ creates an event that will put a smile on the face of not only those who can remember this era. But also to the growing number of young music lovers who are rediscovering the value of the works created back then.
